i found my tracey emin book, angel without you, in a random box in my mom’s garage. i convinced myself i lost it years and years ago and i was sure that i wouldn’t come across it again. the feeling of relief and surprise that came flooding over me from just rediscovering her book again made me realize how formative this photo book was for me when i was in my twenties. it’s rare to come across an artist like tracey emin who portrays love in an honest and wretched way. her bold proclamations of love reflect the hopefulness and purity of such a feeling yet recognizes the desperation and vulnerability that comes with it. i love this photo book and i thought i’d share some of my favorites for your friday.
i also rediscovered this tumblr, from another room, which plays songs with that slightly depressing muffled echoing sound. i find it comforting and sad in a way that is sometimes needed. i’ve been listening to this one on low volume while getting ready for bed.
take rest, angels.
