i packed ‘light’ for new mexico which is rare for me, a habitual over-packer. viv and i agreed that we were just going to bring easy dresses meaning silk slips, breezy cotton dresses that resemble shapeless sacks, a single pair of linen pants, uniqlo men’s boxer shorts for lounging and a selection of bathing suits.
i like having options when it comes to clothing while traveling which is why even for 48 hour trips to los angeles, i will pack six tops, three pairs of jeans, three pairs of shoes, three dresses and another top just for good measure. i like having options and even more than that, i like being prepared.
santa fe has a dry heat that makes you feel healed from the inside out. there is no dampness here. there is no moisture. there is no wetness. it’s the type of heat that makes you inhale and then release a deep exhale. the heat blankets you without being cloying or without feeling suffocating. somehow, this heat feels both rejuvenating and renewing. you feel healthy again.
there are three things i packed for this quick little trip and i am so happy i did.
the first being a long and flowy white dress that i thought i hated but i ended up loving.
